Madrid

I have been to Madrid for the weekend. A double family celebration:a 70th birthday party and a christening. We had a party at a restaurant called Olsen which my nephew runs. Beautiful food. It is 40 years since I was last there and Madrid has changed considerably. I just remember Plaza Major but I have never seen the Museum of Queen Sofia or the Thyssen Bornametza art collection which used to be in Lugano before. The Picassos, particularly 'Guernica' are memorable.

Shropshire Life

Ah well - here we go. This is the second time I've tried to create a blog so I hope this will be more successful. I live near the historical town of Shrewsbury which is the centre of the county of Shropshire and built in a loop of the river Severn not far from the border with Wales. I have a grown up family and have recently retired. Life in Shropshire is certainly quiet. When I look out of my window all I see are fields, hedgerows, oak trees and distant hills. The village church is nearby and it has a soft bell which sounds every hour. I used to live in a big city and if I ever have to go back , it is for the shortest time possible; the noise and dirt are horrible. A country bumpkin! That's what I've become.
